Common questions

Is practice cents free?

Yes. The tuner, metronome, and HYKOM samples in the browser don’t need an account. The iPhone app is free too — Pro is only for the full HYKOM catalog, MM Mode, and custom meter maps.

Do I need to install an app to tune?

No. Open the tuner or metronome here. Safari or Chrome. If you want an icon, use Share → Add to Home Screen. The iPhone app is there when you want record and journal.

Can I use this as a guitar tuner?

Yes. It’s chromatic, so it hears any note — guitar and bass included. Open the tuner, allow the mic, play each string.

What is HYKOM?

How’s Your Knowledge of Music — theory and ear training for grades 6–12. Skills match contest types; every drill is original. Try samples here; full paths are Pro on iPhone.

Who built practice cents?

Phil Holland — private trumpet teacher in Plano for 23 years. All-State kids, GDYO principal chairs. Built for real practice rooms.
